My everyday AeroPress recipe

August 30, 2026 · 4 min read

There are hundreds of competition recipes for the AeroPress. This is not one of them. It is the one I make on weekdays, when I want a good cup and do not want to think.

Coffee
15 g, medium-fine (a bit finer than V60)
Water
230 g at 92 °C
Method
Inverted, one paper filter, rinsed
Total time
about 2:00

Steps

  1. Set the AeroPress upside down on the scale, plunger at the "4" mark.
  2. Add the coffee, start a timer and pour all the water within 15 seconds.
  3. Stir three times, gently. Put on the cap with the rinsed filter.
  4. At 1:30, flip it onto the mug and press slowly for about 30 seconds.
  5. Stop when you hear the hiss. Taste before adding anything.

Adjusting

If the cup is sharp, extend the steep to 2:00 before flipping. If it is heavy and bitter, go one step coarser. For darker roasts I drop the water to 85 °C and the cup gets noticeably rounder.
